The Knowledge Continues By Kirsten Cash & Karen Jones
New to the Sunshine Coast Public Art Collection - The Knowledge Continues
The Knowledge Continues, embodies not only our First Nations culture, but the artistry of our First Nations people in sharing the story of this place, merging our history with our contemporary community.
In collaboration with Kirsten Cash, this new public artwork by Kabi Kabi artist, Karen Jones is the first time Karen’s work has been presented in a public space. The hand carved timbers’ form pays homage to an upturned canoe you may see along the water’s edge. The form also embodies the shape of a seedpod as a symbol of the continuing generational knowledge that is passed on through families and community. Karen’s imagery captures the stories of culture and place along the riverbank and surrounding lands.
The Knowledge Continues celebrates our place and environment, our history and our people.
