Switching up my studio location in 2024, from beachside to industrial estate, I had a pleasant surprise when looking around the new area. Over the fence and down a little path was Eenie Creek, and even though it hadn’t been raining much and the tea-stained water was pretty stagnant, there were so many hints of life—it held some special energy. I couldn’t resist bringing my practice outdoors and under the canopy, painting what was right in front of me instead of my usual paint-from-memory approach.
