This etching is an intaglio print made up of twelve separate plates. Each plate embraces its own story, which when interconnected tell the whole story about my local area, which is Maleny. The plates all work together to create a sense of coexistence and continuity.
People visit the hinterland and stop at local lookouts to marvel at ‘the view’, especially our iconic Glass House Mountains which dominate this image, but there is more to this story. It is about the interrelation of the mountains, the farmlands, the distant city skyline and ocean, as well as the stunning flora and fauna, and of course, our beautiful local Wedgetail Eagle family. This print covers the view through one single vantage point.
The technique used here is copper etching, aquatinting and spit-biting on 300gsm Hahnemühle paper. Even though each plate has been developed separately, the print is one singular pull.
